Application
In the world a large amount of sulfate of sodium were used by production of synthetic detergents, use of sulfate of sodium, the Second for quantity — glass production. Also this substance is used in large volumes when receiving cellulose by a sulphatic method, and also in the textile, tanning industry and in nonferrous metallurgy.
In small amounts sulfate of sodium finds application in chemical laboratories — as the dehydrating means. In spite of the fact that it dehydrates organic solvents more slowly, than magnesium sulfate, many prefer this means for two reasons: it is cheap and easy to filter.
In smaller quantities it was used in medicine and veterinary science as a salt depletive earlier and as a component in means for washing of a nose.
It is registered as a food additive of E514.
